Super 8 has become something of a moment in Toronto weddings the last few years, and it's not hard to see why. It's real analogue film, not a digital effect, not a filter, not something we fake in editing. It's the same warm, grainy format your parents or grandparents used, run through an actual film camera, developed and scanned the old-fashioned way.
We love it because it forces a kind of intention digital never demands. Each roll gives us about three minutes of footage before it needs to be changed, so every roll is a choice, this moment, not that one. There's no unlimited take, no infinite storage. Meet Your Toronto Super 8 Filmmakers
We're Anika and Carson, the Super 8 filmmakers behind Amare Studios, and we built this whole thing on a simple belief: that the moments that matter most deserve to be preserved forever.
Amare means "to love" in Latin. We didn't pick that name to be clever. We picked it because this whole thing, the studio, the work, the life we've built together, started with exactly that.
We met working at Starbucks in 2018 and never looked back. We fell in love, built this business together, and got married surrounded by everyone we love most. And somewhere in planning our own wedding, we truly understood what it means to want every single moment of that day preserved forever. That's what we bring to every wedding we shoot. Not just a camera. A genuine understanding of what's at stake.
Today we shoot alongside an incredible team including Nurin and Crystal, who we chose not because they filled a role, but because we felt it, that instant connection that tells you someone truly cares about this work the way we do.

We want you to be yourself, and we'll be there with a camera that never feels like it's watching.
Most of our Super 8 weddings happen right here in Toronto, but we also shoot across Hamilton, Niagara, Muskoka, Prince Edward County, and everywhere in between. We know Southern Ontario and we love filming across it.
Some weddings take us further. Whether you're saying yes in the Italian Dolomites, on a cliffside in Portugal, or somewhere neither of us has been before, we're in for the trip and the film.

Q3: How much footage does one roll of Super 8 actually capture?
Each roll of Super 8 film captures approximately 3 minutes of usable footage before it needs to be changed. That limitation is part of what makes it special, every roll is a deliberate choice about which moment matters most, not an unlimited digital take.
Q4: Can we shoot our entire wedding on Super 8, or is it just an add-on?
Both are options. Many Toronto couples add Super 8 to their digital video coverage for key moments like the ceremony or first dance. Others choose to shoot their entire day on Super 8 alone for a completely analogue film. We'll help you decide what's right based on your budget and how much of the day you want captured this way.
Q5: Does Super 8 film have sound?
No, Super 8 cameras don't capture audio. When we blend Super 8 with digital coverage, we can pair the Super 8 footage with real audio recorded separately, your vows, your speeches, or music, so the final edit still feels complete even though the Super 8 portion itself is silent.
Q6: How long does it take to get our Super 8 film back?
Super 8 film requires physical developing and scanning before editing can begin, which adds time compared to fully digital coverage. Most couples receive their finished Super 8 footage within 10 to 14 weeks of their wedding date.
Q7: Is Super 8 footage lower quality than digital?
It's different, not lower quality. Super 8 has a distinct grain, warmth, and texture that's part of its appeal, it's not meant to look like crisp modern digital footage. Couples who love Super 8 love it specifically because it doesn't look digital.
Q8: Do you offer Super 8 for engagement sessions too?

Q9: Do you shoot Super 8 outside of Toronto?
Yes. While most of our Super 8 work is right here in Toronto, we regularly shoot it across Hamilton, Niagara, Muskoka, and the rest of Southern Ontario, as well as for destination weddings.
Q10: How far in advance should we book Super 8 coverage?
Since Super 8 requires a dedicated shooter, we recommend booking it at the same time as your main photography or videography collection, ideally 12 to 18 months before your wedding date, especially for peak season Saturdays.
