Amare means "to love" in Latin

We're Anika and Carson, a married couple who photographs weddings across Ontario for a living. We genuinely can't believe we get to call this our life. We built this studio together from the ground up, and we show up to every wedding the same way we'd want someone to show up to ours, with intention, with care, and with a team we'd trust completely.

Let us tell your story. Whatever that looks like to you.

A young man and woman sitting outdoors on a book ledge, smiling and laughing together, with trees and a dome in the background, during the daytime.
A young man and woman sitting on stone steps beside a potted olive tree, next to a large wooden door with decorative studs, against an aged stucco wall.
A bride and groom holding hands outdoors during a wedding, with a backdrop of tall trees and greenery.

Our Story

I grew up flipping through my family's film photos, the grainy, imperfect ones that made me feel so nostalgic. I never forgot what it felt like to relive those moments. That feeling is why Amare exists. And it's the standard Carson and I hold every single wedding to.

Amare means "to love" in Latin. We picked it because this whole thing, the studio, the work, the life we've built together, started with exactly that.

We met working at Starbucks in 2018 and never looked back. We fell in love, built this business together, and got married surrounded by everyone we love most. And somewhere in planning our own wedding, we truly understood what it means to want every single moment of that day preserved forever. That's what we bring to every wedding we shoot. Not just a camera. A genuine understanding of what's at stake.

Today we shoot alongside an incredible team including Nurin and Crystal, who we chose not because they filled a role, but because we felt it, that instant connection that tells you someone truly cares about this work the way we do.

We are so grateful to do this together. And we genuinely cannot wait to capture your love story too. 🫶🏼

A newlywed couple holding hands and celebrating as they exit a white chapel, surrounded by guests, during a wedding ceremony. The bride holds a bouquet of flowers, and the groom is smiling. Guests are applauding and standing on either side of the entrance, which is decorated with pink and purple flowers, with the open chapel doors behind them.

We're not here to show up, get the shots, and leave. We're here because we genuinely understand what it means to be trusted with something irreplaceable, the look on your dad's face when he sees you for the first time, the way your person's voice sounds when they say your vows, the quiet moment after the ceremony when it's just the two of you and it finally hits.

Our couples tell us they forgot we were even there. That when they watched their film back for the first time, something cracked open in their chest. That it felt like being handed the day all over again.

That's what we're here to give you. Not just photos. Not just a film.

The feeling of your wedding day, preserved exactly as it was, for every anniversary, every quiet Tuesday, every moment you need to remember why it all matters.

The Amare Experience

What Makes us Different?

Most couples tell us the same thing after their wedding: they forgot we were even there.

That's not an accident. It's the whole philosophy.

We show up knowing your day, your people, and the moments that matter most to you, and then we move through it all so intentionally that you never feel pulled away from what's actually happening.

The result is photos and film that feel completely alive. Not because we manufactured them, but because we witnessed them.

That's the Amare difference. And it shows up in everything we do; from the planning conversations months before your day, to the calm presence we bring when things don't go exactly to plan, to the gallery you open eight weeks later and can't stop looking at.

Our Approach

We don't believe in running your wedding day. We believe in reading it.

Before we arrive, we've done our homework, researched the venue, reviewed your timeline, talked through what matters most to you. By the time the day starts, we're ready to move with it rather than against it. We stay out of the way of the things that are already beautiful, and we're exactly where we need to be when something is about to happen.

After the wedding, your sneak peeks arrive within a week, because we know how badly you want to see it. Your full gallery follows within eight weeks, delivered through your private online gallery, downloadable for print, web, and social. Your film within ten weeks, delivered via a private link. Everything delivered with the same attention it was shot with.

Our Style

Documentary at the core. Editorial at the edges.

We shoot the day as it unfolds, candidly, without interruption, without staging moments that haven't happened yet. And alongside that, we create portraits and couple moments that are beautifully composed without ever feeling posed. The combination is what makes an Amare gallery feel complete rather than one-dimensional. See the full range of what that looks like in our portfolio.

For couples who want something more, we also offer Super 8 film and 35mm film add-ons, both of which add a warmth and texture to your day that digital alone can't replicate. And if you want to see Super 8 in motion before deciding, our films are on YouTube.
