Ravine Vineyard Wedding in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Written by Anika Kitchen, Ontario Wedding Photographer
Ravine Vineyard has been farmed by the same family for over 155 years, and you can feel that history the second you turn onto the property. The vines run the St. Davids Bench right up to the escarpment, and by late afternoon that whole hillside goes gold in a way that barely needs help from me. Ceremonies happen out on the lawn with the vines as a backdrop, but the real showstopper is the Barrel Cellar, candlelit, intimate, built for maybe 30 guests around a harvest table, and it photographs like something out of a different century. More than one couple has told me it felt like a fairytale down there, and I don't disagree.
Thuy-Hanh & Bradley
Thuy-Hanh and Bradley flew up from Atlanta for their September wedding, and everything about the day reflected how they described themselves to me beforehand, thoughtful, sincere, detail-oriented. Thuy-Hanh comes from a creative background and had a clear point of reference for what she wanted, classic, timeless, a little editorial, closer to the fashion spreads she loves than anything trend-driven. With only 50 guests, they picked Ravine specifically for the vineyard views and for dinner in the Barrel Cellar, which gave the whole evening that dramatic, candlelit mood they were after.
Their timeline wasn't the usual order, and I loved that about it. The morning started at an Airbnb in Niagara-on-the-Lake for getting ready and their first look, just the two of them before anyone else arrived. From there we headed into Old Town for portraits at the historic City Hall, and only after all of that did we make our way out to Ravine, where guests were already mingling at a pre-ceremony cocktail hour. Thuy-Hanh didn't change into her dress until that cocktail hour was already underway, ceremony following around 4:30, which flipped the usual order of the day and gave everyone, including the two of them, more time together before things got formal. We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening on the property, wine cellar portraits, portraits out among the vines, and sunset portraits once that golden light started coming in over the escarpment. By the time dinner moved into the Barrel Cellar that evening, candlelight low, everyone seated close together, the whole thing had settled into exactly the kind of night they'd pictured.

"Anika and Carson did the photography and videography for our wedding, and we couldn't have loved the experience more! We chose 11 hours of coverage to keep the day's schedule relaxed, and they were totally on board. Their expertise and guidance made everything run smoothly, and they made us feel so comfortable throughout. As first-timers, we appreciated all the tips and support they offered, it truly made a difference! The photos turned out absolutely beautiful, and our parents loved them. We've received a lot of compliments. Thank you, Anika and Carson, for capturing our day and making it unforgettable!" — Thuy-Hanh & Bradley
More About Amare Studios
I'm Anika, the photographer and creative director behind Amare Studios. Along with my team, I've spent nearly a decade photographing weddings across Ontario, and after hundreds of them (plus one of my own), I've learned exactly what makes a couple feel comfortable, seen, and genuinely themselves in front of a camera.
My style is documentary at heart with an editorial eye for light. I don't pose you into something that feels foreign, I create the conditions for real moments to happen, and then I catch them.
If that sounds like the kind of photographer and videographer you're looking for, stick around and say hello.
Frequently Asked Questions About Ravine Vineyard Weddings
What's it like to have a wedding at Ravine Vineyard in Niagara-on-the-Lake?
It's one of the most established winery venues in Niagara, farmed by the same family for over 155 years. You get vineyard views on the St. Davids Bench with the escarpment behind you, a lawn ceremony space, and a candlelit Barrel Cellar for dinner that feels completely different from a typical reception room.
Where is Ravine Vineyard located?
Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery is in St. Davids, part of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, on 34 acres of vineyard along the St. Davids Bench.
What is the Barrel Cellar at Ravine Vineyard like?
It's an intimate, candlelit space set up for around 30 guests at a harvest table, ideal for smaller weddings that want a dramatic, moody atmosphere instead of a big open reception hall.
What kind of couples get married at Ravine Vineyard?
Couples planning an intimate, detail-oriented celebration who care about food, wine, and atmosphere as much as the ceremony itself. Thuy-Hanh and Bradley's 50-guest wedding, built around vineyard portraits and a candlelit Barrel Cellar dinner, is a good example of what this venue does best.
Do you photograph weddings at Ravine Vineyard regularly?
Yes, it's one of my favourite Niagara venues to shoot. If you're getting married at Ravine Vineyard and want to talk about documentary photography and videography coverage, get in touch here. 🫶🏼
