A Cranberry Creek Gardens Wedding: Katie & Mitchell's Story
Written by Anika Kitchen, Ontario Wedding Photographer
Cranberry Creek Gardens in Delhi, Ontario is one of those venues that does most of the decorating for you. Seven acres of English-inspired gardens, a chapel from the 1800s, a tree-lined ceremony walk, and an original barn with hand-hewn beams that have been standing longer than any of us have been alive. The September light here is something I genuinely look forward to, warm and golden without being harsh, and the gardens are in that perfect late-summer transition where the greens are still lush but the season is just starting to turn. The chapel interior is one of my favourite spots on the property, tall windows, soft even light, and a quietness that makes portraits feel intimate rather than staged. The open field gives you wide, breathing-room frames with a sky that goes on forever. For couples who want a garden wedding that feels timeless without trying too hard, this one is at the top of my list.
Katie & Mitchell’s Story
Katie messaged Mitchell on Facebook after their first meeting and told him she thought her wallet was in his car. It wasn't. She just wanted to keep talking to the Zamboni driver from the rink where she coached, the one who had offered her a drive home and made it impossible to stop thinking about him. That small, slightly chaotic act of courage in March 2017 turned into seven years together, a winter cottage proposal with their closest friends and their dog, and one hundred people gathered in the gardens of Cranberry Creek to watch them get married on a golden September afternoon.
The details of their day were the kind I notice immediately and never forget. Katie had altered her mother's wedding dress into her reception outfit, wearing something that carried that much history while making it entirely her own. Everything else followed that same spirit, thrifted touches, personal details, a day built around the people in the room. Her brothers served as bubble bearers and had their own moment to shine. The flower girls were absolutely everything. After the outdoor ceremony we moved through the gardens, out into the open field, and inside the chapel for portraits, where the light through those tall windows made every frame feel considered without any effort. Mitchell, who Katie had warned me was not a photo enthusiast, was completely at ease by that point. That always happens when the day has been built the right way.
What Katie and Mitchell Said
"Amare Studios was everything we could ask for and more. They captured all the little details you work so hard on and do not want to forget. They capture all the candid moments you would have never got to experience. And they do it all while making you feel so comfortable. My husband is not a photo enthusiast and he loved how Carson and Anika worked together. Highly recommended."

More About Amare Studios
I'm Anika, the photographer and creative director behind Amare Studios. Along with my team, I've spent nearly a decade photographing weddings across Ontario, and after hundreds of them (plus one of my own), I've learned exactly what makes a couple feel comfortable, seen, and genuinely themselves in front of a camera.
My style is documentary at heart with an editorial eye for light. I don't pose you into something that feels foreign, I create the conditions for real moments to happen, and then I catch them.
If that sounds like the kind of photographer and videographer you're looking for, stick around and say hello.
Frequently Asked Questions About Cranberry Creek Gardens Weddings
Where is Cranberry Creek Gardens located?
Cranberry Creek Gardens is located in Delhi, Ontario, in Norfolk County. It's approximately 45 minutes from Hamilton and about 90 minutes from Toronto, making it a beautiful destination option for GTA couples who want to escape the city without going too far.
What is Cranberry Creek Gardens like for wedding photography?
Genuinely one of my favourite venues to photograph in Southern Ontario. The seven acres of English-inspired gardens, the original 1800s chapel with its tall windows and soft light, the tree-lined ceremony walk, and the open field beyond the gardens give you four completely distinct looks in one property without ever rushing. September is especially beautiful here, warm golden light and gardens in their late-summer peak.
Does Cranberry Creek Gardens have an indoor ceremony option?
Yes. The 1800s chapel on the property is available for indoor ceremonies and is one of the most beautiful intimate ceremony spaces I've photographed in Ontario. The tall windows provide soft, even natural light that photographs beautifully in every season.
What kind of couples get married at Cranberry Creek Gardens?
In my experience, Cranberry Creek attracts couples who want a garden wedding that feels timeless and personal rather than heavily styled or produced. Couples who care about the people in the room, who want a venue that has real character and history, and who aren't looking for something trendy. Katie and Mitchell are a perfect example.
Do you photograph weddings at Cranberry Creek Gardens regularly?
Yes. It's one of my favourite venues in Norfolk County and one I'd happily return to every season. If you're getting married at Cranberry Creek and want to talk about documentary photography and videography coverage, get in touch here. 🫶🏼
