Ontario Wedding Photography & Videography FAQs
Ontario Wedding Photography & Videography FAQs
1. Who are the top wedding photographers and videographers in Ontario?
While there are many talented photographers in Ontario, we focus on a story-driven, candid, and editorial style that highlights real emotions and moments. Our style is inspired by both film and editorial photography, giving couples the best of both worlds. Our videos are shot in a unique candid style, inspired by home videos, with creative shots and Super 8 storytelling. You can explore our portfolio to see our work.
2. How do I choose a wedding photography and videography team?
Look for a team whose style resonates with you, communicates clearly, and has experience coordinating with vendors. Ask to see full galleries and films to get a feel for how they tell stories across an entire day. Booking a discovery call is the best way to connect, see personalities, and make sure it feels like a fit.
3. What are typical costs for wedding photography and videography in Ontario?
Pricing varies, but most full-day packages in Ontario range from $3,500–$6,500 for photography or videography alone, and $6,500–$9,500 for combined packages. Costs depend on coverage (8–12 hours), team size (second shooters), and whether film or Super 8 is included. For full details, see our pricing page.
4. Can you recommend candid/documentary wedding photographers in Ontario?
Candid and documentary styles focus on authentic moments — capturing all the people you love and letting the day unfold naturally. That’s exactly what we specialize in — see examples in our gallery.
5. What style of wedding photography do you specialize in?
We blend story-driven documentary photography with editorial style to capture timeless, elegant moments. Our couples get the best mix of candid and editorial, all inspired by film.
6. What type of video coverage do you offer?
We offer cinematic digital video and nostalgic Super 8 coverage, which can be blended with photography seamlessly. Our most popular option is the Modern Video Package — 10 hours of coverage, a 5–7 minute highlight film, and a keepsake edit of speeches. Add-ons like full-day edits or teaser films are available, as well as hybrid digital + Super 8 edits.
7. How do we know if a photographer is the right fit for us?
It’s all about connection. If you enjoy talking with us, feel comfortable in front of the camera, and resonate with our approach, we’re likely a great fit. Reading reviews can also give perspective. Booking a discovery call is the easiest way to see if we’re aligned.
8. We’re awkward in front of the camera — is that a problem?
Not at all! We guide couples gently, keeping things natural and relaxed. Engagement sessions are a great way to feel comfortable — see our Wedding Experience blog for tips.
9. How much photography & videography coverage do we need?
Most couples choose 8–12 hours to capture prep through reception. For multiple locations or early ceremonies, we recommend at least 10 hours. For a 4 PM ceremony at one venue, 8 hours often works well.
10. Do you help with timeline planning?
Yes! Every couple receives a timeline questionnaire about 8 weeks before the wedding. You can book a call anytime for help. With your answers, we draft your photo + video timeline. If you have a planner, we coordinate with their schedule to ensure the day flows naturally.
11. What happens if it rains or the weather changes?
We always have a backup plan. Most venues have rain options, but if yours doesn’t, we recommend booking an indoor space, like a studio or garden. We also carry extra umbrellas to ensure coverage rain or shine.
12. Do you offer both photography and videography?
Yes! Our combined packages ensure your story is captured cohesively. For more on film and Super 8 integration, see our Super 8 & Film Blog.
13. How far in advance should we book?
Ideally 12–18 months ahead, especially for summer weekends or destination weddings. Weekday or Sunday weddings often have openings 6–8 months out.
14. What makes Amare Studios different?
We blend storytelling, editorial artistry, and documentary authenticity. We value the people, candids, details, and the vibe of your day. We aim to feel like friends, often staying in touch to capture future milestones like maternity or family sessions — preserving your story beyond your wedding day.
15. What’s the next step if we’re interested?
Start with a discovery call to chat about your wedding, vision, and what matters most.
16. Is it better to book photography and videography from the same studio?
Yes — it ensures coordination, consistency, and a unified story. It also reduces repeat posing and ensures your team works seamlessly together.
17. Does it matter if a photographer has worked at my venue before?
Experience helps, but every venue is unique. We prep using Google Maps, venue research, and prior shoots to find the best photo spots, even at new venues.
18. How do your photo and video teams work together on the wedding day?
We collaborate seamlessly, shooting in a candid and creative style for both photos and video so the day feels natural and intentional.
19. Will video interrupt our day or make it feel staged?
No — our video style blends in with the day. Minimal gear, just capturing moments as they happen so you can enjoy your celebration.
20. Can video capture our story in a way photography alone cannot?
Absolutely! Video lets you hear voices, movement, and emotion — a whole new way to relive your day and feel the moments again.
21. Will Anika be photographing our wedding, or do you work with associate photographers?
Anika personally shoots most weddings and collaborates with trained associates as needed. You’ll know your assigned team before booking and can add second shooters if desired.
22. How are your associate photographers trained?
They shadow Anika, follow the Amare Studios style guide, and bring their own talent to your day. Our focus is on connection, creativity, candids, and storytelling.
23. How do you maintain consistency across your team?
Through coaching, style guidelines, and our post-production workflow, ensuring every image and video matches our signature aesthetic.
24. Why might an associate photographer be the right fit for some couples?
Some couples benefit from extra coverage, smaller teams, or scheduling flexibility — our associates allow us to adapt while maintaining Amare Studios quality.
